EgiChem researcher attends '12th European Congress of Chemical Engineering'
September 24, 2019
The Egichem student José Pedro Aniceto attended and presented a poster in the 12th European Congress of Chemical Engineering and 5th European Congress of Applied Biotechnology, which took place in Florence (Italy) from the 15th to 19th of September of 2019.
Briefly, The European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE) promotes a series of biannual events, known as ECCE Congresses: "EUROPEAN CONGRESS OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING". The Scientific Program encompassed innovative solutions to respond to major societal challenges. Plenary, Keynote, Invited and Contributed lectures unveiled up to date insights in all topical areas of modern Chemical and Biochemical Engineering to address Solutions to Global Challenges.
José Pedro Aniceto presented the following poster at the conference:
I.S. Azenha, J.P.S. Aniceto, A. Mendes, C.M. Silva. Improving the simulated moving bed separation of oleanolic and ursolic acids with a C30 stationary phase, 12th European Congress of Chemical Engineering and 5th European Congress of Applied Biotechnology, Florence, Italy, 2019.

July 19, 2019
Inês Ferreira concluded her MSc in chemical engineering on the 19th of July of 2019.
Inês Ferreira thesis was entitled "Otimização do Funcionamento da Turbina da Bresfor, S.A." and the work was supervised by Dr. Carlos Manuel Silva and Eng. Rui Loio (Bresfor, S.A.).
The jury panel was presided by Dr. Maria Inês Purcell de Portugal Branco (University of Aveiro) and the examiner was Dr. Francisco Avelino da Silva Freitas (University of Aveiro).
EgiChem congratulates this student for her achievement.
New supercritical, subcritical, and pressurized extraction unit available
July 15, 2019
A new supercritical, subcritical, and pressurized extraction unit is now available at EgiChem group. The new apparatus was supplied by SFE Process SAS (France) and is labeled as 'Multi-solvent Extraction System LAB SFE 1L'.
The equipment allows several working modes, namely:
- Extraction with supercritical CO2 at pressures up to 1000 bar and temperatures up to 150 ºC, with or without cosolvent, and with controlled flow rates;
- Subcritical water extraction up to 400 bar and 250°C, with controlled flow rates;
- Pressurized organic solvent extraction with controlled pressure, temperature and flow rate.
EgiChem students present at Research Summit 2019
July 06, 2019
The EgiChem members Ivo Azenha and Vítor Rodrigues delivered presentations about their PhD topic in a pitch format at the Research Summit 2019, which took place at University of Aveiro (Portugal), from the 3rd to 5th of July of 2019.
Research Summit 2019 was a forum to foster important discussion on the global theme of Energy and Sustainability, among the University of Aveiro research community and to enable collaborations to advance the state of the art and empower the research efforts at the campus
The oral communications were the following ones:
- I. Azenha, Separation of Triterpenic Acids by Simulated Moving Bed Chromatography, Research Summit 2019, Aveiro, July 2019
- V. Rodrigues, Technology for the valorization of agro-forestry residues, Research Summit 2019, Aveiro, July 2019
